Because the focus of our grant-making is northern Ohio and the Cleveland area, applications from organizations outside this geographic scope will not be considered for funding. However, organizations in
this area are encouraged to apply, provided they have the required
501(c)(3) tax-exempt status and fall within one or more of our six
funding areas.
The Foundation cannot grant funding to individuals or
municipalities, nor for tickets or tables at events.

Here is what we look for when considering a grant request:
Your organization:

is new, small, or not well known.

does not have major
support from larger foundations (such as the Cleveland Foundation)
or established philanthropic organizations (such as United Way)
-
benefits a particular area, sector
or niche not addressed by other organizations
Your application:
- is for funding for a particular need or project, rather than operating
or office expenses
- is for preferably between $1,000 - $2,000,
but no more than $5,000. If your application is at the upper end
of this range, you will increase your chances of success if your
request can be broken down into a “shopping
list” of smaller amounts, one or two of which might be funded
even if the total request cannot be
